Quick one about…

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I watched it, how could I not? It has Sebastian Stan in it.

You might think that I like him because we share our country of origin, and to that I say … maybe. But maybe I like him because of the contrast between his blue eyes and dark hair. You know I am a sucker for cotrast, right? Also, he is a very good actor and plays a very likeable character. Do I have to explain myself more?

All in all, the series is pretty good, and it has everything to make it an entertaining experience.

  • Sexy black person: check.
  • Sexy tormented white person: check.
  • Good dialog: check.
  • Men acting like boys: check.
  • Villain with good enough arguments that you can empathize with: check.
  • Powerful women: check.
  • References to current race turmoil in the US: check.
  • Motherly figure: check.
  • Great fight scenes: check.
  • Male characters never hitting women, even when they are the villains: check. (So much for equality, right?)

But there are a few things that could have made this movie even better. This is the dialog I would have loved to see in episode five, when Sam decides to wear the shield.

  • Sam: Bucky, you should have the shield.
  • Bucky: No, I am not worthy.
  • Sam: You were Steve’s best friend. You were experimented on; you were forced to be somebody you are not for so long. You should finally be who you are.
  • Bucky: I see your point, but I can’t. In the US of our times, we both know that shield would have more power in your hands.
  • Sam: You make a good point as well. It just seems unfair man. You are just as worthy of using this shield as I am and for you it definitely has more emotional value than it does for me.  But yeah, I’ll wear this shield with pride and change the world in the process.
  • Bucky: You do that brother, you do that.
  • Strong man hug right here, then Bucky leaves.

Why I wanted this dialog in? Because it is about damn time to high-five the white people that acknowledge the race problem and are making sacrifices, are taking a step back, to allow the spotlight to fall on the people that need to be seen now for the world to change.

There are a few inconsistencies in the whole series regarding how powerful are some individuals, but the one that bothered me the most, was in the last episode. In episode six when Sam fights Karli, he has a suit and a shield, but she is a god damned super-soldier. And you are telling me he is fighting her without even breaking a sweat? Is that suit made of vibranium too? Also… since he hasn’t taken the super-soldier serum, shouldn’t he be protecting his damn head ? I like the suit, but this detail is pretty stupid.

Also, now that the White Wolf was mentioned, I expect a mini-series about him with Sebastian Stan as the lead.

As for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I gave it a 7 on IMDB.

Stay safe, stay happy!
